Art Therapy & Counselling
About Me
B. Couns, MMH (art therapy), AThR
I specialise in art therapy and am registered with ANZACATA (the peak professional association for Creative Arts Therapy). My training includes a Bachelor of Counselling, Masters in Mental Health (Art Therapy) (UQ), and art-related training (fine arts and animation).
My service is in the area of mental health and well-being, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, and self-development. I also provide therapeutic support for self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants.
I utilise a person-centred and integrative approach tailored to suit each individual's needs. It focuses on assisting people in exploring their concerns and needs, using their strengths and resources to live a meaningful life.
I am fluent in Mandarin.
About Art Therapy
Our experience cannot be captured by words alone. Art therapy uses images and symbols to help us express our emotions, foster insight, and improve our physical and emotional well-being. Art therapy uses art materials, including paint, watercolours, crayons and clay, to process difficult emotions and concerns in a safe way.
Art therapy is suitable for people from all backgrounds, both adults and children, and especially people with language difficulties. You do not need art training to have art therapy.
The other benefits of art therapy include but are not limited to the following:
Reducing stress and anxiety
Improving communication and social skills
Managing concerning behaviours and symptoms
Gaining self-awareness, insight and resolving inner conflicts
Enhancing creativity and confidence
Improving motor skills
